Trekking Punta Buffanaro (1,879 m) from Camporaghena
Ascent to the second peak of the Groppi. EE trail, exposed sections, views over Lunigiana and the Apennines. For experienced hikers. Start from Camporaghena.
What it is and why do it
Punta Buffanaro (1,879 m) is the second peak of the Groppi di Camporaghena, slightly lower than Monte Alto but just as panoramic. The ascent is demanding: EE trail with exposed sections, a track that is not always obvious.
You can climb Punta Buffanaro as a single destination (out and back) or include it in the full Groppi loop. The view stretches over Lunigiana, the Apuan Alps and the Parma Apennines.

- You want a panoramic peak without the full 8-hour loop
- You have a sure foot on exposed terrain
This trek is NOT for you if:
- You're a beginner
- You suffer from vertigo
- The weather is uncertain or there's fog
- You have no navigation experience
Warnings
- Trail 106 (shortcut from Torsana): reported impassable. Do not use it.
- Ridge fog: can rise suddenly. Postpone if the weather is uncertain.
