    Fivizzano: the Florence of Lunigiana

The most elegant village in Lunigiana, with a Medici square, fountains, museums and restaurants. About 20–25 minutes from Camporaghena.

![Fivizzano — Piazza Medicea with the fountain]

What it is and why go

Fivizzano is the cultural centre of Lunigiana. They call it "the Florence of Lunigiana" for the elegance of the Piazza Medicea, the fountains, the historic buildings. It was an important fief of the Medici, and it shows: the Renaissance imprint is everywhere.

It's the right place for a half-day visit: square, museum, coffee, a stroll through the historic centre. Then dinner in one of the local restaurants. Unlike Camporaghena, here you'll find life, people, open cafés.

    What to see

    • Piazza Medicea — The main square, with fountain and porticoes. Fivizzano's drawing room
    • Museo di San Giovanni — Civic museum with works of art and historical finds
    • Historic buildings — Palazzo Fantoni, Palazzo Vescovile
    • Church of San Giovanni Battista — The village's main church
    • Porta di Sotto — Ancient gateway to the historic centre

    What to expect

    • An elegant village, different from the mountain hamlets
    • Square with open bars and cafés
    • Museum, churches, buildings to visit
    • Restaurants and places for an aperitivo
    • Parking outside the centre (the centre is a ZTL or traffic-limited zone)

    Practical information

    • Distance from Camporaghena: about 20–25 minutes by car
    • Parking: available outside the historic centre. The centre is pedestrian or traffic-limited
    • Accessibility: square accessible, some side streets have steps
    • Dogs: allowed in the village. Check for museums
    • Services: bars, restaurants, grocery shop, pharmacy, bank, post office
    • Google Maps: Fivizzano MS
    • Time needed: half a day (2–4 hours)
    • Season: all year round

Who it's for and who it's not

    Fivizzano is for you if:

    • You want to see an elegant village with a Renaissance imprint
    • You're looking for a place to stroll, have a coffee, visit a museum
    • You want to combine culture and dinner out

Fivizzano is NOT for you if:

    • You're looking for a perched, wild medieval village
    • You want silence and isolation (there's village life here)
    • You don't want to walk (the centre is flat but there are streets to cover on foot)
